Specifications

All of our workstations are driven by Apple Macs - if your artwork is in IBM DOS (PC) format, please contact the Art Director for additional information specific to the software you are using.

We utilize the following graphics software:

All other graphics must be saved in EPS or TIFF format. When sending EPS or TIFF files be sure spot and process colors are saved accordingly and the image is in high resolution (300ppi or better). Web art is not suitable for printing because it is saved in RGB color and low resolution (72ppi). Individual files CANNOT exceed 1MB/1000KB. Files exceeding IMB in size MUST be shipped in on disk. Please do NOT send large "batch" emails. We accept art on 3 ½" diskettes, zip disks and CD's - Mac or PC formatted. We also accept Mac formatted optical disks.

All type MUST be converted to paths/outlines or embedded into the image. If you require the use of externally loaded font folders in your art, please ship the art in on disk. If you are PC based, your font folders will not operate on our Mac systems. If you are using Mac fonts that will not convert to paths, send the font folders with your image files and we will ATTEMPT to work with them.

As always, be sure spot color art is saved in spot, not CMYK or RGB, color. For further information regarding four color process (CMYK) printing, contact the Art Director.

Adobe Illustrator (AI or EPS) versions 7.0 and earlier are the best file formats to use when emailing vector "line" art - if you are not using Freehand.

Please send black and white laser printouts of your art in case your disk has been corrupted or damaged in transit - this can be critical with rush orders!

Be careful when sending camera-ready artwork that includes halftone screens - screen rulings suitable for offset (paper & magazine) printing is usually unsuitable for screen-printing. As each job imposes its own demands, please contact the Art Director for screen ruling information specific to your artwork/print.

REMINDERS and NOTES:

Although we use Freehand and Quark, those software files do not email as well as Adobe Illustrator formats. If you are using Quark, you probably are using support font folders and will need to ship the artwork.
